Meet Glenn Heller – Service Technician
As a boy I was often called "Grasshopper", probably because I was tall, skinny and a fast runner while playing lots of soccer. Later on I was called "Mr." for a "Mrs." had entered my life. Shortly thereafter I was called "Daddy". Sometime later my friends began referring to me as "The Plant Man" because of my love for plants and the fun I had building, designing and arranging gardens as a hobby. When my son was in college I used to play pickup basketball with him (he's only 6'6”) and other college students 2-3 nights a week and there I was called “Pops” (may have had something to do with the fact of being the oldest player??).
During my time with Ganser I have been called a "Repair Man" or "Service Man". Someone even referred to me once as "Doctor" because my job involves examining and diagnosing a problem and then coming up with a cure to fix it. Most of the time this refers to attempting to figuring out why there is a leak (roof, window, siding), why there is a bulge where there shouldn't be, and then coming up with a plan of action to end the problem. Officially I'm now referred to as a "Service Technician". I enjoy being able to solve problems.
However, the one name I bear with great pride is "Grandpa". Being a grandparent has caught me by surprise for it is so much fun. Learning to examine bugs, leaves, water, clouds, toys, new places, new foods and all the other host of other new discoveries brings excitement and pleasure along with an appreciation for the simple and little things of life that we adults often take for granted and ignore.
My wife and I (I was born in Chocolate Town USA, my wife near Baltimore, MD) enjoy long walks through cities, woods, beaches, and mountains, hiking, camping (tents of course!), reading, cooking and eating exotic and gourmet foods, as well as extensive traveling in the USA and overseas (every State but Alaska, 20 countries, 4 continents). All of life has taught us that we can rest in the hands of One who is capable of guiding us through life. Learning to be still and rest in Him is fulfilling even during the moments of disquiet.
Relax and smell the roses, life is too short to miss them.
