Meet Marc Ganser – Senior Estimator
I came from a large family…the Ganser family. Yes, we are a prolific Roman Catholic family. Growing up, I spent Saturday afternoons in the middle of the back seat of the family car (as the food chain of family hierarchy required) looking at the architecture on homes, visiting craft shops with my mother (my father and I were forced), and traveling to historic U.S. cities and sites. I always hated the history lesson, until the age of 18 when I became a history major in college. Now, carrying on the family tradition, designing and fixing up homes, I’ve come to love architectural history, the American “Can do” attitude, and living the American dream.
I always thought the wisdom handed down from “old ma and pa Ganser” was a scene from Charlie Brown with the adult chatter of “Blah, blah, blah”. Now, the longer I am in the business, I know the foundation they gave me was perfect to help continue on the family business. I was born a generation too late in my own mind. I don’t believe in handouts. I believe hard work and effort pay off, and if I can plan it, pray for it, and work for it, I can have it. I love eclectic music, antique shops, world history, tobacco pipe smoking, and relaxing in a rocking chair after a long days work.
There is a time and place for everything. I am social in public and quiet when I am alone. With my close friends, religion, politics, and philosophy, would not be a conversation that is off limits. I am a risk taker and I like to move in fast forward, but still have the understanding that others don’t do the same. I enjoy conversations that lead towards truth, even at the risk of challenging others and at times challenging myself.
At this point you might start feeling sorry for my wife, Diana. She is from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. I had to marry a Brazilian due to the fact they already think Americans are crazy…quite a good fit. Plus, if she calls me an idiot, I wouldn’t know because I don’t speak Portuguese…lucky me. I now share her attention with our daughter Isabella who was born in June 2010.
If I were to die today, I would put on my tombstone, “Nice try, Nice try, Nice try…damn, he tried,” But I have a whole life to live and I can promise you, I’m gonna try! Try to love God, my family, my friends, and my business.
I look forward to helping you with your “Castle” in the near future.
